Ed Sheeran ‘s shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. this weekend have been canceled. The comments led to the Israeli-American Council launching a petition to have Macklemore removed from the tour. Then, after performing on two shows, Messina Touring Group announced that Macklemore had been dropped from the tour, after which the other opening acts on the outing — Aaron Rowe, Finneas, Lukas Graham and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga — said they were leaving of their own volition in solidarity. Sheeran performed a pair of shows in Philadelphia last weekend solo, telling the crowd that he wanted his concerts to be about unity and humanity instead of politics . “What happened in Israel and at the Nova Music Festival on October 7th was horrific and compounded centuries of Jewish pain. What is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable, and disproportionate. My heart has been broken by the scale of devastation and loss of civilians’ lives, of children’s lives, and the systemic injustice we’re seeing unfold in the West Bank cannot be overlooked,” Sheeran said from the stage at Lincoln Financial Field.
