Amazon MGM Studios Masters of the Universe is not having a great time at the box office. The live-action movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios , based on the iconic franchise, hit U.S. theaters on June 5, and is already facing a major 70% decline in its second weekend, via Variety. The film is No. 5 at this week’s box office, bringing in $8.6 million from 3,677 locations, bringing its overall haul to $45.7 million domestically an d $84 million worldwide. The movie had a nearly $200 million production budget, and, according to the outlet’s assessment, “will leave theaters as one of the year’s biggest bombs.” Here’s the official synopsis: “In Masters of the Universe , director Travis Knight brings the legendary franchise back to the big screen in this epic live-action adventure. After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam ( Nicholas Galitzine ) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor ( Jared Leto ).
