Getty Savannah Guthrie is absent again on Today . The 54-year-old co-anchor of the morning news program notably did not appear for the second day in a row this week on Thursday’s (June 18) episode. The reason is because she is not in New York City. After Craig Melvin said one day before she was “on assignment,” he and co-host Sheinelle Jones , who filled in for Savannah , provided more information a day later. “ Savannah starts production meetings on the Wordle game show coming to NBC,” Craig said. “It’s coming! Yeah, I’m excited for her,” Sheinelle added. Savannah herself also teased the show on her Instagram Story, revealing she’s in LA and offering a glimpse at the Wordle game with the caption “coming soon.” She also shared photos visiting Carson Daly on the set of The Voice . “Perhaps Savannah is amongst the huge crowd taking over the streets of New York today for the Knicks’ victory parade,” she also joked. S avannah is expected to return to the show on Monday (June 22), via People. Savannah returned to Today in April amid the months-long disappearance of her mother Nancy Guthrie . The case has been open for over 100 days at this point since February. While she’d stopped by Today twice since her mom went missing, once to visit friends and a second time to have a sit-down interview about the experience, April’s appearance marked her first proper day of work since Nancy went missing on February 1.
