Getty Hundreds of actors, directors, animators and more have just been invited to join The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ! 2026 Oscar nominees Jacob Elordi and Teyana Taylor , as well as Jenna Ortega , are among the actors who have “distinguished themselves by their contributions to motion pictures,” and received to join the Academy, whose members vote on the Oscar nominees and winners each year. This year’s list of invitees was unveiled on Wednesday (June 24), and includes 95 Oscar nominees, 21 Oscar winners and more! Those receiving invites comes after a process starting with sponsorship, not application, where they executives of each of the 19 branches of the Academy, and one “membership classification,” identify candidates they deem worthy of membership into the organization. The recommendations are then reviewed by the membership committee and presented to the board of governors for final approval. There were even nine people who were invited to join multiple branches and have to choose which one when accepting the invite. “We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Lynette Howell Taylor shared in a statement, via THR . “Through their commitment to filmmkaing, this year’s exceptionally talented class has made significant contributions to our global movie industry.” Keep reading below to see the full list of 2026 Academy invitees… * – Those marked with an asterisk have been invited by multiple branches and must choose one branch when accepting membership.
