During a recent interview with his Jersey Shore cast mates, Ronnie , 40, struggled to keep his eyes open and appeared to nod off several times while co-star Deena Nicole Cortese spoke. On Monday (May 4), Ronnie took to his Instagram Story to share some cryptic messages to mark May’s Mental Health Awareness Month. One message Ronnie shared read, “High functioning depressions is waking up each day with a face that works but a heart that doesn’t, doing everything you’re supposed to do while feeling nothing inside, and most days it’s like being trapped in your own life, when every part of you wants to stop.” In a separate Story, he shared a screenshot of a graphic that read, ““May is Mental Health Awareness Month. 1 in 4 people will suffer from some form of mental illness in any given year. Not all pain is physical and not all wounds are [visible]. Break the silence. Break the stigma.” He also shared a video of NBA player Kyrie Irving saying in an interview, It’s OK to be human. Like, I don’t have to be perfect for anyone here nor do I have to be perfect for the public. So I’m not here to dispel any perception. I’m just here to be myself.” Along with the video, Ronnie wrote, “The disease doesn’t discriminate. Famous, athletes, single parents.” In a final Story, Ronnie shared a graphic that read, “May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Depression is more than being sad. Anxiety is more than worrying. OCD is more than being tidy. Bipolar is more than mood swings. PTSD is more than just flashbacks. Schizophrenia is more than seeing things. EDs are more than being underweight. Borderline is more than instability. Addiction is not just ‘a choice.’” If you didn’t see, Ronnie ‘s Jersey Shore co-star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino spoke out in reaction to the concerning video .
