Getty Muni Long is opening up about her health. The 37-year-old entertainer stepped out for the 2026 BET Awards on Sunday (June 28) held at Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. She was joined on the red carpet by Akeem Ali , who stars in her new “Richest” music video. While walking the red carpet, Muni shared an update on how she’s doing after recently revealing that she underwent a double lung transplant . “I’m feeling good, as long as I do everything I’m supposed to do,” Muni told The Hollywood Reporter . “Make sure I take my mask everywhere, take hand sanitizer – it’s really how we should all be – but I’ll be a lot more cognizant of my surroundings, and what I’m eating, and things like that. It’s actually a much more healthy lifestyle.” While appearing on Good Morning America last week, Muni , who was diagnosed with Lupus in 2014, revealed that leading up to the transplant, she had been experiencing a lot of health issues, which caused her to exit the 2025 The Boy is Mine tour with Brandy and Monica early. “I knew for a really long time that something was wrong,” she shared. “Every day I’m, like, spitting in cups and coughing all the time. Trying to take all these medicines to get through the day. With this industry, you’re always in people’s faces. So, I’m taking pictures, and I’m just huffing and puffing like I just ran a marathon.” Around Thanksgiving last year, Muni was hospitalized and that’s when she was told that she needed a double lung transplant. “My jaw dropped. Literally. I was like, ‘That’s rude.’ But they were kind of like, ‘This is not a joke. You need to make a choice. You can either go to hospice or you can get these lungs.'” We’re so glad to hear that Muni has recovered and we are sending her continued well-wishes!
