Apparently, “The Baddest Bi—es Are in LA.” Hot Topic’s exclusive Prima collection playfully turns ADÉLA’s “Ain’t in LA” lyric, “the baddest bi—es ain’t in LA,” into a declaration of hometown pride. City-specific T-shirts assert that there are, in fact, baddies in Los Angeles, Dallas, Seattle, Nashville, Washington, D.C. and New York, nodding to the sold-out shows in these cities and the devoted fans who filled them. Both “Nicole Kidman” and “Ain’t in LA” landed on the Billboard Hot 100, while Prima debuted at No. 1 on two Billboard album charts . Yet “Ain’t in LA” offers more than a catchy song. Its music video is an insight into Adéla’s Slovakian culture and the DIY social scene of working-class youth. From “subwoofers in the trunk” to “Honda Civic doin’ donuts in the rain,” the imagery is one where just hanging out is the main event, worlds away from the glossy, otherworldly life in Los Angeles.
