Getty It sounds like we might be getting a new Forgetting Sarah Marshall movie! If you forgot, Jason Segel starred alongside Kristen Bell , Mila Kunis , Russell Brand , and Paul Rudd in the hit comedy flick, which was released in theaters back in 2008. Here’s the official synopsis: “Struggling musician Peter Bretter ( Segel ) has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall ( Bell ). Devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with his recent break-up with Sarah. Little does he know Sarah’s traveling to the same resort as her ex … and she’s bringing along her new boyfriend.” One of the iconic elements of the movie is Peters’ secret passion project involving a Dracula rock opera performed entirely with puppets. In 2023, Jason played Dracula’s Lament at Sam Jones’ Talent Show at LA’s Hotel Cafe, reigniting fans’ desire for a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall . In a new interview, Jason teased that a sequel may be in the works. “In 2023, you popped up in Los Angeles and played Dracula’s Lament live, and even after all this time, with, Forgetting Sarah Marshall , one day, are we ever going to see that full rock opera?” an interviewer for The Direct asked Jason . “We have been talking about it, I will tell [you],” Jason responded. “That’s all I can say. Yeah, every once in a while, I get an itch, and I get my puppet, because I have him, and I go perform live somewhere. But I still dream of doing that musical. I have an idea for how to do it, too. So, we’re getting there.” When asked specifically if fans would get a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall , Jason said, “It would all be one thing [with the musical]. I got an idea. I have an idea.” If you didn’t know, Forgetting Sarah Marshall already has a follow-up movie. The 2010 movie Get Him to the Greek shifted focus to Russell’s character Aldous Snow and also starred Jonah Hill . Back in 2022, Jason explained why he moved out of Hollywood after How I Met Your Mother ended.
