Getty Images Charlie Kirk ‘s parents made a rare appearance after the death of their son. Robert Kirk and Kathryn Kirk arrived at the courthouse for a weeklong preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson , the man accused of killing Kirk , on Monday (July 6) in Provo, Utah. He was fatally shot on September 10, 2025 while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Kirk ‘s parents have not often been seen or heard from in the months after his passing. Erika Kirk , his widow, was also there. Charlie Kirk’s family released a statement ahead of the hearing The statement, via the BBC , is from his wife, Erika , his parents, Robert and Kathryn , and sister, Mary . “Charlie was a beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and father. Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children.” “We remain deeply grateful for the support, prayers, and kindness we have received. This outpouring has sustained us during the darkest days of our lives. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask for continued privacy as we navigate this process and immense grief.” CNN reports that Tyler has been “charged with aggravated murder and felony use of a firearm, as well as obstruction of justice, witness tampering and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.” Last year, the Utah County Attorney has released alleged text messages that Tyler apparently sent to his roommate and rumored romantic partner. The texts allegedly contain the motive for the murder.
