The 65-year-old actor, director, and producer will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice Film Festival , which is set to take place from September 2 through September 12, 2026. “I’ve had so many extraordinary moments in Venice. This festival is without question my favorite and to be given the Golden Lion is a tremendous honor. It also probably means I’m old, but I’ll take it,” George said in a statement, via The Wrap . Venice Film Festival artistic director Alberto Barbera praised the Up in the Air star as a “perfect combination of the star glamour of days gone by, remarkable professionalism, and modern sensitivity.” The honor recognizes a career that has spanned television, film, directing, and producing. George first became a household name playing Dr. Doug Ross on ER before going on to win two Oscars: Best Supporting Actor for Syriana and Best Picture as a producer on Argo . His directing credits also include Good Night, and Good Luck , which Barbera noted as part of George ‘s larger commitment to social and humanitarian causes. George is also keeping busy on the franchise front, with Ocean’s 14 currently in the works .
