Instagram One of the subjects of A&E’s Born This Way , Cristina Sanz , has tragically passed away at the age of 36. Her family posted to her official Instagram account that she suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on Monday (July 6). They added that her passing was completely unexpected. A post to her Instagram reads, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our daughter, Cristina, passed away Monday morning. She suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while at her Day Program and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the doctors’ best efforts to stabilize her heart, she did not survive. We are grateful that we were able to be by her side at the end.” They continued, “Her death was a total shock and unexpected. We will forever treasure the gift of her life. We will all carry in our hearts the wonderful “Cristina moments” that she gave us.” If you are not familiar, the show highlighted a diverse group of young men and women with Down syndrome as they pursued their passions and lifelong dreams, explore friendships, romantic relationships and work, all while defying society’s expectations. She appeared on all four seasons of the show, which highlighted her relationship with her husband Angel . They did end up splitting up in 2021. Our thoughts are with Cristina Sanz ‘s loved ones during this time. RIP .
