Getty England ‘s unofficial anthem at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has become Oasis ‘ “Wonderwall.” Throughout their World Cup run, the team, which is set to compete in the semifinals of the 2026 tournament, has regularly celebrated its victories with a rousing rendition of the 1995 Oasis classic. According to ESPN , participating teams work with FIFA on stadium playlists, and England’s post-match selections have included “Wonderwall,” along with The Beatles ‘ “Hey Jude” (a nod to England star Jude Bellingham ) and Neil Diamond ‘s “Sweet Caroline.” The England players and their supporters singing the song together after the team’s win over Croatia in Dallas created one of the tournament’s most memorable moments so far. Harry Kane recently said of singing the song along with fans: “That was one of my favorite ever moments in an England shirt and especially at a major tournament. I know it’s just the first game and we’re not getting carried away, but just that emotional connection with the fans. We know how much it means to them. I think they see how much it means to us. We have that connection right now but just that moment, singing ‘Wonderwall’ in the stadium. Everyone knew the words and that was a really special moment.” Take it away lads ? pic.twitter.com/utc8UVOaD9 — England (@England) July 12, 2026 Jordan Pickford added: “We all thrive off it. And when they’re coming out in full force like they are, I think it’s only going to get better as well. The next two games, I think we’ll see a lot more numbers [of fans] coming over. We all love it. We’re all passionate people, and we know the England fans are passionate as well. It drives us.” Even Noel Gallagher has embraced the tradition. The musician recently texted talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy , who announced live: “He [Gallagher] said, ‘For your information, that song belongs to the people’ — talking about ‘Wonderwall,’ right?” “That moment at the end where Harry Kane was talking about a special moment for fans. He said, ‘I don’t see it as my song. I thought it was a brilliant moment. ‘Anything but Sweet Caroline,’ block caps.” Listen to “Wonderwall”… Read the lyrics to “Wonderwall”… Read “Wonderwall” by Oasis on Genius Find out who is predicted to win the World Cup.
