Britney Spears is responding to concerns about her safety after the 44-year-old “Gimme More” singer was spotted sticking the upper half of her body out of the sunroof of a G-Wagon last week while cruising down Los Angeles’ 101 Freeway. TMZ posted photos of the incident in which Spears was seen dancing half-in and half-out of the car as an unidentified man in a white cowboy hat drove the vehicle. In an Instagram post on Saturday (July 11), Spears posted a pic from a different angle — a blurry shot of her body from behind, her arms spread out and her head flung backward — along with a note addressing the concerns about her actions. “What people see is two seconds of insanity of me arching me to the lords !!!!! yet the days and hours of my reality !!!!!! Nothing is what it seems,” wrote Spears. She added, “Psss I think I need to come out of the roof quite a bit more 🙄😳🤦♀️😂.” It remained unclear at press time why Spears poked her head out of the car and it appeared that her actions did not spark any official response from the LAPD. At press time a spokesperson for Spears told Billboard they had no additional comment on the incident. Spears was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Ventura County, Calif. in March and was sentenced to probation after taking a plea deal to a lesser change in May, which may explain why she was not behind the wheel of the luxury SUV. She received a year of probation after pleading guilty through her attorney to a misdemeanor known as “wet reckless,” which was a downgrade from the more serious charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She checked herself into a treatment facility and was ordered to participate in a three-month DUI education program and continue regular therapy with a psychologist and psychiatrist. Spears, who has effectively retired from the music industry, uses her Instagram to connect with fans these days, mostly via her energetic dance videos. She posted a lengthy caption on another dancing video on Sunday (July 12)in which she asked her followers if they believe in mythology and creatures including vampires, ghosts and mermaids . “why are those the exact topics that serve real interest.. other worlds, the ocean is the most mysterious,” she wrote. “watching too much of the discovery channel of course, very few people can go to the deepest parts so much has not been seen. there’s so much we still don’t know beyond treasure… I feel like perhaps there might be different worlds there!!!! I’m a dreamer… I’ve read millions of books about it in fiction but it’s fun to escape realities…” She went on to describe tearing through books at a rapid pace in order to escape the real world and fall in love with fictional characters. Reading a book she described as “similar to Benjamin Buttons,” Spears wondered if humans can indeed age backward as in the 1922 F. Scott Fitzgerald short story “The Curi
