Go inside Jay-Z’s unforgettable three-night run at Yankee Stadium. From Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint to a final night packed with surprise guests, the weekend felt like a celebration of hip-hop history. Watch Billboard staffers break down the biggest moments, the crowd energy and why this was one of Jay-Z’s most legendary live runs yet. Beyoncé, Nas, Alicia Keys, Pharrell, Clipse, Usher, Teyana Taylor and Rihanna all made unforgettable appearances, with Ri delivering her first public performance since the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Keep watching to see everything you missed! Carl Lamarre: This was probably one of his better performances in a long time. Angel Diaz: That night, it felt like a big party, The Blueprint night. Kyle Denis: And once we got in there, we were in for the show of a lifetime. Carl Lamarre: We’re taking you to Jay-Z’s weekend at Yankee Stadium in Billboard ‘s All Access. I went to night one of Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt performance at Yankee Stadium. The anticipation was there. Everybody in there, you know, Timberland boots, Yankees hat, Yankees jersey, and then by 9:25, the anticipation, you know, the air, the energy began to shift because that’s when Jay-Z appeared, and the first thing I noticed, he had the hat on, but you couldn’t see the dreads or anything, and they actually showed a video in the very beginning of Beyoncé cutting his fro in an empty Yankee Stadium. To see how electric he was, you know, performing his debut album that came out in 1996, sold 43,000 to become this lauded classic, which is just a seismic album, and hip-hop was beautiful, you know. He brought out Beyoncé to do “Can’t Knock the Hustle” as the first song. No Mary J. Blige, but hey, you got Beyoncé as your wife, you know, and her coming in, you know. That’s that’s a win within itself. And then bringing in Nas and weaving in together their heads, knowing the history that they’ve had on a competitive level. It was a true masterclass in performing. It was a true history lesson. It was a true moment in nostalgia, and to know that that was the way he was just kicking things off for night one was amazing, and then of course, “Empire State of Mind,” Alicia Keys. You know why not? Angel Diaz: Night two was Blueprint night, and it was way more people that. One of his most popular albums. The crowd was way more engaged. They were rapping along to every song. I think even the second night, because the album dropped on 9/11, there was a helicopter that flew above with a spotlight right at 9/11 and put like a spotlight on the stage and on the crowd. Like that was like a nice touch. It kind of felt intentional. You know, people rapping along to songs that are 25, 30 years old. You know what I’m saying? Like word for word. That was a cool experience. Like for rap to have that moment. Keep watching for more!
