Welcome to Billboard Pro’s Trending Up newsletter, where we take a closer look at the songs, artists, curiosities and trends that have caught the music industry’s attention. Some have come out of nowhere, others have taken months to catch on, and all of them could become ubiquitous in the blink of a TikTok clip. This week: Some final World Cup-related gains for Shakira & Burna Boy and The Beatles, as well as a new breakout hit from Lil Baby and a viral moment capitalized on by Saucy Santana. “Dai Dai” Has Best Streaming Day Yet Following World Cup Halftime Performance Are you tired of Shakira & Burna Boy ’s unavoidable World Cup anthem “Dai Dai” yet, following six weeks of World Cup action over June and July — which finally came to a head last Sunday (July 19) at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, as Spain triumphed 1-0 over Argentina? If so, you might be close to the only one: Even after the tournament’s resolution, streams of the song have continued to spike — no doubt buoyed by the duo’s performance at the final’s halftime show, the first ever of its kind. In fact, “Dai Dai” enjoyed easily its biggest day yet on streaming this Monday (July 20), as fans either found themselves unready to say goodbye to the song that had soundtracked their past month and a half, or came to it for the first time after tuning into the final. The song racked up nearly 2.2 million official on-demand U.S. streams on Monday, up 65% from the 1.4 million it amassed the day before the final, and up 84% from the 1.2 million streams it amassed the day after Shakira and Burna Boy first played it at the Cup’s opening ceremonies in June, according to Luminate. It wasn’t the only song performed at the halftime show to see big gains the day after the performance: Justin Bieber’s “Everything Hallelujah” was also up 161% to 268,000 streams from the day before the Cup, and BTS’ “Dynamite” was up 74% to 312,000. But the big musical winner of the tournament — possibly outside of Oasis’ “Wonderwall,” which rode streaming momentum from its adoption as the English team’s unofficial theme song to a No. 27 Billboard Hot 100 re-entry — was undoubtedly its official theme, which has also since moved into the top 20 on both Spotify’s and Apple Music’s real-time charts. And on the subject of the Hot 100 — “Dai Dai” reached a new peak of No. 42 on this week’s chart (dated July 18), still falling just outside of the top 40. While the song could have conceivably gone either direction next week with the tournament ending just a couple days into the tracking week (which begins on Friday), with these strong post-tournament gains, it seems likely that “Dai Dai” will live on as a hit, and perhaps make its first appearance in the top 40 on next week’s chart. — ANDREW UNTERBERGER Team England Takes a Sad Song and Makes It Better With “Hey Jude” Revival Speaking of Team England and its Oasis fixation translating to streaming success: The squa
