Christopher Nolan is revealing something major that happened on the set of The Odyssey . The 55-year-old director of the epic, which is currently breaking box office records around the world, spoke out in a new interview about the making of the star-studded film. During a conversation with the LA Times , Christopher got candid about working with Samantha Morton as Circe, the goddess who turns Odysseus’ men into swine. “This was a massive film and she is someone who comes in and changes the dynamic. In some weird way, the film lived or died over that character. She was the fulcrum,” Christopher said. “I’ve always admired Samantha ’s work, she brings so much depth of thinking about her role, there are no limitations on her performance,” he went on to say, adding that he worked around her schedule to make sure he could accommodate her, and that he did not regret the decision. “After one of her takes, the crew gave her a great round of applause,” he added. “I was talking with Emma [Thomas , his producing partner and wife] afterwards and she remembered that the last time that had happened was with Heath Ledger on The Dark Knight .” Christopher directed the late Heath as The Joker in The Dark Knight , for which he won a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. If you can’t find tickets for the movie in IMAX 70mm, you luckily will have plenty of time to catch the movie in that format. IMAX has committed to showing The Odyssey in all of their theaters through August 13, when the movie The End of Oak Street will then fill those screens. That movie was also filmed for IMAX and the company is obligated to vacate the screens for it upon release.
