Getty Swedish House Mafia and Lykke Li are teaming up to become the “Swedish Avengers.” The Swedish electronic supergroup, made up of Axwell , Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso , just dropped a new song called “Happiness Is So Sad” on Thursday (July 30) with the “I Follow Rivers” singer-songwriter. It’s the first time the acts worked together. Per an official release, the song, produced by Swedish House Mafia , PARISI and Fred Again.. , “explores the relationship between happiness and sorrow, how memory can hold both at once, and the pleasure of a moment sitting alongside the knowledge that it now exists only in the past.” The track was recorded in Stockholm and includes Max Martin and Oscar Holter as co-writers. “We had this idea of putting together a Swedish Avengers crew,” Sebastian told Vogue Scandinavia . “It’s always nerve-racking working with new people and writing something on the spot, but Sebastian completely put me at ease. His energy is insanely positive and infectious…when we found the riff we were all screaming with our hands in the air. We probably all got tinnitus listening back,” Lykke added. “Those melodies that pierce your soul, that make you want to cry and dance at the same time. We Swedes understand darkness but we love the light more than anyone else.” The song also follows Lykke ‘s critically hailed new album The Afterparty , released in May, while Swedish House Mafia is in the middle of their residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, where they premiered the track live, as well as at this year’s Tomorrowland.
