The Apple TV psychological horror series stars Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as married attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden, whose lives are upended when convicted killer Max Cady, played by Javier Bardem , is released from prison and seeks revenge against them for something that happened when they previously crossed paths. Apple originally described Cape Fear as a 10-episode limited series. The streamer released the finale, titled “The Executioners,” on Friday (July 31), wrapping up the show’s weekly run. Apple TV’s official materials billed the project as a limited series, while its listing for Episode 10 calls it a “season finale.” Will there be a Cape Fear season 2? Max tries to deny everything, but Anna goads him into attacking her to expose who he really is, and while Max does get arrested, he also escapes custody not long after. Max subsequently takes the Bowden family hostage inside their home and stages his own trial. Under threat, Anna confesses she knew the jury in Max’s original case had been deadlocked. Instead of using that information to help him receive a lighter sentence, she allowed him to remain imprisoned because she feared that Natalie might be his daughter. Anna then makes an awful discovery after Max admits to killing Crystal and Luke, learning Luke was actually the son Max believed had died with his wife, Melissa. Crystal had taken the baby and raised him as her own, meaning Max unknowingly killed the child he had spent years mourning. The revelation temporarily breaks Max’s control. Natalie frees herself and fights back, while Zack, Tom, and Anna eventually join the struggle. Anna stabs Max before Tom tackles him into th
