The Horror Section Ice Cream Man is arriving in theaters this week, and the critics are speaking out. The movie, set to be released this Friday (August 7), “follows an idyllic summer town descending into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.” Hostel and Thanksgiving director Eli Roth both directs and stars in the new horror film, which he also co-wrote with Noah Belson . The cast also includes Ari Millen as the titular character, Benjamin Byron Davis , Karen Cliche , Dylan Hawco , Sarah Abbott , Shiloh O’Reilly , Kiori Mirza Waldman , Charlie Zeltzer , and Charlie Storey . It should be noted that it is not a remake or reimagining of the 1995 film. Eli Roth recently spoke out about employing the cast of children for the bloody carnage: “It was Christmas and Halloween for them every day. The kids in the movie have been liberated. It’s like they’re opening their presents. They’re opening the teacher’s chest cavity and playing jump rope, only they’re doing it with intestines,” he told IndieWire . “I was very clear with the parents about what we were doing, and the ones that weren’t on board were weeded out before we ever started shooting.” “If I was 10 and I saw this, I’d think it was the greatest movie ever made.
