Getty Bruce Springsteen is providing an update about his wife, Patti Scialfa . The 76-year-old “Born in the U.S.A.” icon made a pre-recorded appearance at the cancer research charity bike ride Pan-Mass Challenge. “We’re a little late, but here we are and it’s a pleasure to be with you,” he said in the video, which has since been shared on social media. Bruce Springsteen Shares Positive Update on Patti Scialfa’s Health “Since 1980, you have inspired a community that has done something remarkable. You’ve never stopped believing that ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference. And because of that countless lives have been saved.” He went on to say his wife Patti “has been living with her multiple myeloma for over eight years, but now thankfully she is in remission.” Bruce went on to say: “It’s our physician who refuses to stop searching and caring, [and] it’s our nurse who sits beside us when we’re scared and always makes our journey just a little bit easier.” Bruce Springsteen Honors Cancer Researchers & Caregivers “I’ve spent my life writing songs about the people who keep believing when life gives them every reason not to and for those who refuse to leave someone behind. Now, more than ever, the world needs more everyday heroes like the folks who make up the PMC.” Patti Scialfa Has Been Living With Multiple Myeloma Since 2018 Bruce originally revealed his wife’s diagnosis in the 2024 documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band , revealing she was diagnosed in 2018. Per Mayo Clinic , multiple myeloma “is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. Healthy plasma cells help fight infections by making proteins called antibodies. Antibodies find and attack germs.” A famous musician recently criticized Bruce Springsteen on a podcast.
