Getty Images Noah Centineo ‘s upcoming Rambo prequel finally has a release date. Lionsgate has announced that John Rambo will hit theaters on June 4, 2027, according to Deadline . The film is set to open the weekend after Star Wars: Starfighter , the highly anticipated movie starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy . At the moment, the only other film scheduled for wide release on June 4 is an untitled Paramount project. Noah Centineo stars alongside David Harbour and Yao John Rambo stars Noah Centineo , David Harbour , Yao , Jason Tobin , Quincy Isaiah , Jefferson White , and Tayme Thapthimthong . The film is being directed by Sisu filmmaker Jamari Helander from a screenplay written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani . The project serves as a prequel to 1982’s First Blood and will mark the sixth installment in the long-running Rambo franchise, which has grossed more than $819 million worldwide. The movie also marks the franchise’s first theatrical outing since Rambo: Last Blood , which starred Sylvester Stallone and was released in 2019. James will have a smaller role in the film. James largely stepped away from major studio projects after five women accused him of sexual misconduct in 2018, four of whom attended an acting school he operated. In the years since, the actor has primarily appeared in smaller independent projects, making John Rambo a notable return to the studio film landscape. John Rambo is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 4, 2027.
