Yungblud has found a new, monumental way to crowd-surf, and it involves a wheelchair. In fan-captured videos from the festival, Yungblud yells to his audience, “I have a broken leg … and I had two choices: I was either gonna cancel on Portugal, or I was gonna do a shot of Jack Daniels and put a fuckin’ pot on and come rock n’ roll with you!” As the rocker is lifted above the crowd while seated in his wheelchair, he belts out the lyrics to “Fleabag,” turning a traditional crowd-surf moment into something considerably less conventional. (The track reached No. 15 on Billboard ‘s Rock & Alternative Airplay chart in 2022.) This unexpected stunt is a brave one, considering Yungblud broke his leg just a few weeks ago. Following an accident at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on Aug. 9, Yungblud shared photos on Instagram of his leg wrapped in a cast, and promised fans that his live shows will continue despite his injury. He made good on that promise Tuesday, arriving with his injured leg still in a cast. Afterward, the Grammy winner appeared to take the unconventional crowd-surfing moment in stride. He shared snapshots of the moment on Instagram alongside the humorous caption, “Good way to break my leg …” Yungblud has one more European festival date on his current schedule: Pukkelpop in Belgium on Aug. 22.
