Getty Travis Scott , SZA and Future ‘s copyright lawsuit has been dropped. If you didn’t know, gospel singer Victory Boyd filed a lawsuit last year alleging that the trio’s 2023 song “Telekinesis” was stolen from her unreleased 2019 demo called “Like the Way It Sounds” that she made with Kanye West . The trio denied wrongdoing, but a federal judge refused to dismiss the case as of two months ago. Victory has since dropped the lawsuit as of Wednesday (June 3), saying she “decided to forgive” Travis and move on, via Billboard. There is no settlement in the court filings. Her lawyer Keith White said Victory went through “an internal spiritual process” before ending the case, and that she’s always been credited as a co-writer on “Telekinesis” and would continue receiving publishing royalties, and is no longer pursuing damages in addition. “After some internal reflection, Victory decided to forgive Travis Scott and move past a legal process that felt like it was draining her creatively and spiritually. Victory is moving forward to focus on her art, her ministry and her life. She sends her blessings to all of the parties in the case and is excited to move forward,” the lawyer said in the statement. The song was originally recorded for consideration on Ye ‘s Jesus Is King and Donda , which Travis was featured on, before reportedly being given the song by Ye for him to use instead. (Ye was also never named as a defendant in the lawsuit.) For more details about what led to the lawsuit, head to Billboard.com. In other news, Christopher Nolan is defending casting Travis in his highly anticipated next movie, The Odyssey . Find out what he said.
