Amid its reign, country titles (defined as those that have hit Billboard ’s Hot Country Songs chart) for a week in August claimed the Hot 100’s entire top five for the first time . 2026 continues country’s climb on Songs of the Summer this decade: In both 2023 and 2024, songs in the genre wrapped at Nos. 1 and 2. Last year, Morgan Wallen finished at Nos. 2, 3 and 4, with each of the three songs from his album I’m the Problem . Also notably, “Choosin’ Texas” marks a rare Songs of the Summer champion initially from a previous year, as it was released in October 2025. The last such No. 1? OMI’s “Cheerleader,” whose 2015 victory chant followed its May 2014 release. Still, that hit debuted on the Hot 100 in 2015; “Choosin’ Texas” debuted on the Hot 100 in 2025, making it the first season-ending Songs of the Summer No. 1 to have entered the chart in a prior year in 30 years: Los Del Rio’s classic “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” won the 1996 Songs of the Summer race, thanks to 14 weeks atop the Hot 100, where it had debuted in September 1995. Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” led the Hot 100 in its first two weeks on the chart in June. At No. 2 on Songs of the Summer, she claims her highest ever season-ending rank, surpassing “Bad Blood,” featuring Kendrick Lamar (No. 3 for 2015). Langley’s “Be Her” peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and, like “Choosin’ Texas,” ranked in the chart’s top 10 each week between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
