I often find myself listening to D.O. ’s music. There is a particular sense of intimacy in his music. Rather than pushing emotion to its limits or overwhelming the listener with the sheer power of his voice, he sings with a calmness that feels almost like someone speaking to you from right beside you. That restraint, in turn, brings the listener closer to the music. His voice naturally finds its way into those quiet moments when you open your eyes to begin the day or close them to let go of everything for a while. Because it never feels exaggerated, you can listen to it for a long time. Because it feels comforting, it stays with you on a deeper level. This may be one of the greatest strengths of D.O.’s vocals. Compared with his previous albums, Empathy, Expectation , and Growth , there is a clear shift in sound and a sense of change. Yet the fundamental message D.O. has consistently conveyed through his music remains intact. Rather, DOPAMINE feels like an album that expands upon the stories he has been telling all along through new sounds and genre explorations. That is why the change represented by this album does not simply end with a transformation in style. By stepping outside of a familiar image, D.O. makes it even clearer who he is as an artist and what he wants to convey. The way change and continuity coexist so naturally makes DOPAMINE a meaningful turning point within his discography. TAEHWAN KIM The First Signal of a New Beginning, “Sing It Loud” The album gets off to a bright start with its opening track, “Sing It Loud.” As its title suggests, the song is much like an anthem of encouragement for those moving toward a new beginning. It offers a moment of strength to ordinary people who are exhausted and struggling to catch their breath amid the relentless pace of everyday life. The song begins with a relatively familiar and understated atmosphere, but as it progresses, layers of band instrumentation build into a refreshing and energetic sound. Throughout the process, D.O.’s vocals guide the song steadily without ever pushing themselves to the forefront. His clean and effortless vocal delivery serves as an important anchor, carrying the song’s positive energy from beginning to end. The anticipation, hope, and sense of challenge that come with starting over in a new environment also naturally overlap with the song’s message. As the album’s opening track, “Sing It Loud” offers the most direct introduction to the direction DOPAMINE is taking. The beginning of this album is not simply about starting something new. It is about believing that you can begin again. It Is OK to Have Fun for No
